As a child, I fell in love with horses and was fortunate to live on the edge of town with a stable across the road. I owned several horses through my teen years and worked at the stable and a dog kennel to help pay the board. University, career, marriage and children then intervened, and I suspended my involvement with horses until 2007. I was hooked again by taking riding lessons, then part boarding a horse and finally acquiring a lovelyTennessee Walking Horse. In the Fall, we acquired 3 beautiful Rocky Mountain horses and leased a barn and 10 acres of pasture at a wonderful farm in Puslinch. We are co-oping with friends and their 2 horses, and enjoy sharing the responsibilities and trail riding together.
We noticed that there are many small stables in our area, and learned that there was a need for 'horse sitters'. So, after 25 years in the corporate world, I decided to try something new and totally different, and started Stable Hands in Spring 2009. It has been a real pleasure to get to meet and help so many people with horses in our area! In addition, I am enrolled in the Department of Equine Studies at the University of Guelph, and I am excited to be learning more every day about horses and their care.

I
am pleased to be helping my Mom with Stable Hands. I am a 3rd year student at the University of Guelph. I have always loved animals and have cared for a menagerie of cats, dogs, rodents, fish, reptiles, amphibians and now horses! Like many teenage girls, I took riding lessons for several years and dreamed of owning a horse. Since we got our first horse, Flare, I have become more interested in ground work, and enjoy 'playing' with the horses and observing their behaviour. I am at the University of Aberdeen in Scotland for 1 semester, and will be returning in September 2011.
